Tuscan Milk Amazon Review Analysis

Usually Amazon Reviews are targeted at customers who want to learn more about a specific product. Reviews generally will have information on if the image online matches the real life item and how useful the item is. In addition, customer reviews may include some information on how the customer used the product, although they typically do not go into extreme detail about this.

One of the reviews that I read for the Tuscan Dairy Whole Vitamin D Milk really stood out to me because of its interesting take on a customer review. The link to the review is https://www.amazon.com/review/RKT07YYORZMZE/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00032G1S0&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=16310101&store=grocery .

When I was reading this review, it felt more like I was reading a short story than a customer review. For example, the first line of the review, "He always brought home milk on Friday." already captivated me and made me want to read the whole review. This post was a vivd account of how a husband used to always bring his wife a jug of this milk on Friday's and once he stopped bringing her milk, they grew farther and farther apart and he eventually left her for another woman. One line that really stuck out to me in this review was, "Then there was that Friday, the terrible Friday that would ruin every Friday for the rest of my life." This was the climax of the post, where the happy and joyful description of the wife's feeling about her husband and the milk made a turn into the opposite direction. From this point on in the post is where the woman made it clear that the milk was a symbol for what ruined her life because it is what she associated with happiness with her husband. In conclusion, this review does not fit the usual "Amazon customer review" as it is more of a short story that uses the product (the milk) as a symbol than a post giving a description of a product.

  1. Good job of explaining the elements of a typical Amazon customer review, and then analyzing how your chosen review differs. You provide analysis of specific quotes from that review, which supports your final claim that the review fits the "short story" genre more than an "Amazon customer review."
